Baby Blacks Rout England & now Crowned U-20 World Champs
Here is an unstoppable Baby Blacks side. They have crushed the England team 64-17 in a record-breaking final of the World Rugby Under-20 Championship that took place in Tbilisi.
How it went
The Powerful hooker Asafo Aumua showed the way with a hat-trick of tries as NZ crossed the line ten times in the rout, which is, the most scored by any team in an under-20 final.
By halftime, the game was actually over as New Zealand raced to an early 40-7 lead. Dalton Papali’i & Pouri Rakete-Stones kicked things off by scoring inside the starting ten minutes verses an England team captained by Zach Mercer. Zach is the son of former Kiwis rugby league international Gary Mercer.
The Baby Blacks were dominant throughout with their strong ball runners running riot through the English defences. The eventual result is they scored the biggest scoreline for a final in the competition’s 10 year history.
Luke Jacobson put the icing on the cake with his 2nd try of the game right before fulltime and was able to match the achievement of his older brother Mitchell from 2 years ago by winning the tournament.
He mentioned that it is an amazing feeling that we achieved our goal that was et long time back.
Furthermore, we had discussed as a team to stay positive. We all were on the same page. Happy to work hard and played some good finals footy.
Jacobson said England are a great side but we got on top of them today.
Perofeta kicked 7 conversions & made one spectacular break in the 1st half, but the game really belonged to the devastating forward pack, who ran in 9 of New Zealand’s 10 tries.
Zach Mercer heaped praise for New Zealand.
He said they are a world-class outfit & they are built to score tries but so are we. We sort of switched off in between which could be our mistake. Mistakes were capitalized by the opposition as today.
This was the 6th time New Zealand have won the tournament.
