The results

Dennis came in as a favorite and finished the 28.6km course 29 seconds ahead of team-mates Stefan Keung & Damiano Caruso to complete a BMC clean sweep of the top 3.

The win was Dennis’s 3rd in time trials this season. He also won the 6 km prologue & is a favourite to claim the Tour de France Yellow Jersey on July 1st in Dusseldorf.

Dennis said it was a painful 28.6km. The first 4km felt okay & then it was all about switching off & telling myself that the top of the climb was the finish. It was just 5 kms to go from there.

Furthermore I tried to save something in the little valley & stay as aerodynamic as possible before going as fast as I could on the climb. I am not a climber but I am not too heavy. Hence, I could try & hold the climbers and the ascent.

Špilak

Špilak who won this title in 2015 took a 52-second advantage over Caruso into the final day & he finished 4 seconds behind the Italian in 5th on the day to secure the yellow jersey. Steven Kruijswijk of LottoNL-Jumbo was 3rd.

Špilak said that it was very difficult and hard day. Much harder than we anticipated. This is my 2nd victory here and I am happy for my teammates.

Everyone did a great job and I beat my enemy the heat this time.

Tour of Poland

Špilak mentioned about his next goal. No grand tours for me since 2014, this is my decision. I prefer stage races of 6-10 days. Yes, I would love winning Tour de France stage or to become world champion.

Dennis has been on a roller coaster since past 2 months. He crashed out early at the Giro d’Italia & then on the 2nd stage of Tour de Suisse after taking the prologue win.

He mentioned that it has not been easy for him. His form has been low and his body was in a bit of shock after the 1st road stage & the crash.

Luckily, nothing was broken & there were a few days where I thought I must go home. Nonetheless, there was something good at the end of it.

World Champion Peter Sagan (BORA-hansgrohe) picked up his 6th Tour de Suisse points classification jersey & Lasse Norman Hansen of Aqua Blue Sport took the king of the mountains competition.
