Jackie Chan compares winning Le Mans to receiving an Oscar.
The star speaks
The film star Jackie Chan says his team’s LMP2 win & overall runner-up spot in the Le Mans 24 Hours this weekend felt exactly like when he got an Oscar.
How it went
The Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreca #38 led the race overall with just seventy minutes to go just when the recovering works Porsche 919 Hybrid eventually overhauled it for outright honours.
The Jackie Chan’s car which is crewed by Ho-Pin Tung, Oliver Jarvis & Thomas Laurent did claim class honours & 2nd place outright. The team’s sister car completed 4th overall, 3rd in class.
Team co-owner & martial arts legend Chan, 63, was bestowed with an honorary Oscar last year at the Governors Awards for his decades of work in film by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences.
He wasn’t present at Le Mans this year. Reason is a prior engagement with his stunt performer foundation in Shanghai. He did sent a live message to the celebrations after the event.
Jackie said that he regrets not being present at the venue. Further, watching it on video is so exciting. It is seriously how I felt when I got an Oscar.
Nonetheless, we have to keep working hard and keep growing year by year.
