Ricky Holmes speaks on Sheffield United summer bids
Ricky Holmes hailed Charlton’s united front as hopes are high for a League One promotion push.
The Addicks winger scored twice in Saturday’s 6-1 drubbing of Ipswich Town. The 30-year-old was the subject of bids from Sheffield United this summer before penning a deal that runs until 2020.
“I looked at it because you always have to,” said Holmes. “I was getting offered Championship football, but I was happy. The best football I’ve played was last season at Charlton.
“I knew everything would work out in the end. I wasn’t trying to leave. Fair play to Charlton, they rewarded me. The owners and Katrien [Meire] are pushing in the same direction as us players. It feels around the place that we are all united – together.
