Virat Kohli is an Indian international cricketer. He currently is the Indian Captain. Virat is a right-handed batsman and has many match winning innings to his name. He has also crossed the master Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most 100’s while chasing. Kohli was ranked 8th in ESPN’s list of world’s most famous athletes in 2016. He is the captain of RCB in the IPL & has been the captain since the year 2013.
Kohli was born & raised in Delhi. He has represented the city’s cricket team at various age-group levels before making his first-class debut in the year 2006. Virat also captained India’s Under-19 team to victory at the 2008 Under-19 World Cup that took place in Malaysia. He made his ODI debut at the age of 19.
He soon established himself and was also part of the Indian squad that won the 2011 World Cup. His Test debut was in 2011 & put away the tag of “ODI specialist” by 2013 with special Test hundreds in Australia & South Africa.
He also achieved the No. 1 spot in the ICC rankings for ODI batsmen for the 1st time in 2013. Virat enjoyed T-20 success winning the Man of the Tournament 2 times at the ICC World Twenty20 (in 2014 & 2016). The year 2014 saw him rise and become the top ranked T20I batsman in the ICC rankings & holds the position, as of May 2017.
As MSD retired as captain, Kohli was given the captaincy in Tests and subsequently the limited formats too.

He is only the 2nd batsman in the world to have scored 1,000 or more ODI runs for 4 consecutive calendar years.

- In a calendar year, most runs
- Most 50’s in the format.
- Kohli also holds the records of most runs in a single tournament of both the World Twenty20 & the IPL.
He is now on Tour to Sri Lanka for 5 tests, 3 ODI & 1 T-20I with Indian team.
