Zeuge takes on Smith on June 17th
Rittal Arena, Wetzlar in Germany
Paul Smith knows that he will not be getting another chance to win a world title. He has vowed to capture this opportunity to become a world champion when he challenges Tyron Zeuge for the WBA ‘regular’ super-middleweight title.
Aged 34, the Liverpudlian can accomplish his long-term ambition at the 3rd attempt as he prepares to fight Zeuge in Germany.
Where to watch
It can be seen live on Sky Sports on June 17th from 10 pm. It will be available to view on Sky Sports 1 HD also.
What they say
Smith would not have had to fight here had he won 1 of his 2 WBO title fights with Arthur Abraham. The result was that he lost both on German soil.
He says that those defeats have prepared him perfectly for this one.
Smith said that it has been his dream since he was a kid to become world champion. He also agrees that he missed out in the 1st fight vs Arthur while losing clearly in the 2nd match.
Boxing is funny, here I am fighing another one. I am sure to win here with my experience and timing coming right.
Zeuge has remained unbeaten with only 1 draw in 20 games. Smith says he has analysed Zeuge and seems to have found his vulnerabilities.
Smith said that Zeuge is a decent fighter who is technically superb. He is strong & throws good straight shots. I need to win here because this is my last chance. I wish I had won vs Arthur and become world champion so I could have retired. Nonetheless, see me fight and win.
